What to Do Before Your Spray Tan Appointment
Exfoliate Days Ahead
Exfoliate your skin all over for a few days before your spray tan appointment. Removing dead skin ahead of time will make sure your tan develops evenly and lasts longer. We recommend Eminence Organics Stone Crop Revitalizing Body Scrub or DMK’s Hydra Louffa (available in-store only).
Do Other Beauty Services BEFORE Your Spray Tan
You can get any sugaring you need done at Masque by Mask the same day as your spray tan. If you get waxed, you’ll need to wait 24 hours and shower before your spray tan. Same with any facials, brow/lash services , or nail services, you will need to wait 24 hours and shower in between these services before you get your spray tan. If you’re unsure how a particular service will affect your spray tan, ask your service provider before you book your appointment.
Arrive Freshly Showered
Shower the day of your appointment but use a shower gel or another soap-free cleanser. DO NOT use any Dove or Ivory soap products! Dove and Ivory soap have conditioners that leave a film that prevents the tan solution from adhering. Also, ensure you wash any hair conditioner off your skin.
Do Not Use Lotion or Oil
Do not apply any lotion or oils to your skin the day of your spray tan. These products will prevent the tanning solution from adhering to your skin and you’ll end up with a streaky tan.
Wearing Loose, Breathable Clothing
Wear loose, dark clothing that is easy to clean to your appointment. Loose clothing will prevent rubbing the tan off before it develops. The tanning solution washes out with water from most materials. If it is raining or snowing the day of your appointment, make sure to wear long sleeves and long pants/dress to protect your skin from water while you are leaving the spa.
Bring Your Swimsuit or Not 😊
You can wear a swimsuit or another outfit if you choose to wear during your spray tan. You may also choose to wear nothing during your spray tan for a seamless all over tan. We have disposable bras and panties upon request also. The tanning solution washes out with water from most materials.
