Sugaring + Alkaline Hair Removal
Sugaring vs. Waxing, What’s the Difference?

If you are thinking of switching to sugaring hair removal, you’ll be pleased to learn all the benefits of sugaring offers over waxing. Sugar Paste is Made from Natural Ingredients
Sugar Paste is Made from Natural Ingredients
Tamara’s Sugar paste is made from four natural ingredients, sugar, water, citric acid, and acacia tree gum. These natural ingredients are kinder to you and the planet because they are not made from petroleum products, such as paraffin and artificial dyes, like many waxes are. Our sugar paste is so wholesome that you can actually eat it!
Sugaring Produces Less Waste
Sugaring also produces less waste than waxing because it does not require wooden sticks and paper or cotton strips. Waxing techniques use multiple wooden sticks and waxing strips per service and sugaring does not. Sugaring reduces how many materials are produced and sent to the landfill by half!
Sugaring is Gentler on Your Skin Than Waxing
Sugar paste does not adhere to live skin cells the way wax does and so it causes less discomfort when it’s removed. The risk of lifting (tearing) the skin is greatly reduced with sugar which makes it an ideal service for those with thin or delicate skin from aging or retinol use. The thorough removal of dry dead skin cells by sugaring also leaves you perfectly smooth and prepped for an organic spray tan. Yes! You can book your sugaring and spray tan services back-to-back; how sweet is that!
Sugaring Can’t Burn Your Skin
Sugar paste is heated to safe, near body temperatures (85° to 104°) and cannot burn your skin. Hard waxes used on the face and bikini line are heated as hot as a cup of coffee (125°-140°) and can burn sensitive skin. Stay safe, sugar that place!
Sugaring Reduces Ingrown Hairs and Damage to Hair Follicles
Sugaring technique pulls the hair in the direction of the hair growth and causes less damage to the hair follicles on a microscopic level making ingrown hair less of an issue. Waxing pulls the hair opposite direction of hair growth and causes small scale damage to the cells of the hair follicles that can result in more ingrown hairs. Sugaring also reduces hair breakage at the skin surface that can happen with waxing. Less hair breakage means you’ll stay smoother for longer!
Sugaring Requires Less Hair Length
Do you hate growing your hair out and being hairy between waxing services? Then sugaring is the service you’ve been searching for. Sugaring requires only a ¼ inch of hair for removal so you can go less time between appointments and be smoother more of the time! As an added bonus, the more times you have hair removal done, the thinner and less of your hair grows back. You could say sugaring gets sweeter with time!
Sugaring, What to Know Before You Go

What to Do Before Your Sugaring Appointment
Make sure you have at least ¼ inch of hair growth, approximately 2 weeks of growth, on the day of your appointment. Arrive clean for your service. Taking a pain reliever before your appointment can help reduce the amount of pain you experience during the procedure. Wearing loose, breathable clothing is recommended.
What to Expect During Your Sugaring Appointment
While sugaring is gentler than waxing, it still will cause some pain and discomfort as the hair is removed. Certain conditions such as menstruation and your personal biology can make it more painful for some people. You can totally have your service when you’re on your period, it’s not a problem. Let your practitioner know if you need a break during your service.
What to Do After Your Sugaring Appointment
Keep the sugared area clean and dry for 24 hours. Wash with mild body wash or cleanser and avoid harsh soaps or exfoliating scrubs. We recommend using an antiseptic cream such as Finipil or Tamara’s Soothing Oil on the area to avoid irritation, infection, and ingrown hairs. Wear loose, breathable clothing and avoid vigorous exercise or sex for 24 hours.
